Blewb Food ~ for Aquatic Blueberry Snails & More!
Our Blueberry Snail Food is homemade in small batches by Morgan at Gorgeous Gastropods. It contains vital nutrients like calcium carbonate, digestive enzymes, and probiotics for happy, healthy Blewbs. This combination action of minerals, enzymes, and beneficial bacteria helps to supplement your blueberry’s diet and make sure it’s getting enough nutrition.
The Blueberry Snail (viviparus sp) is still very new to the aquarium hobby. As such, not much is known about their dietary habits in the wild; and most of the blewbs being sold in the U.S. currently are wild-caught. I, myself, bought 9 wild-caught blewbs almost a year ago now. I lost half of them within the first 3 months. Though they went into an established tank with enough algae to feed them, they failed to thrive.
In hopes of keeping my remaining snails alive, I started doing massive amounts of research and playing chemist (a hobby of mine), to get exactly the right balance of the different minerals and nutrients. After a lot of testing on my own Blueberry Snails, I came up with this combo as the final version. Not only did my remaining snails survive, they began to thrive! Pretty soon, I had a tank full of beautiful baby blewbs. 🥰
I feed this powdered food periodically in all of my tanks and all of my many varieties of snails love it! Even my super tiny nano fish (chili rasboras and pygmy rasboras) and my shrimp seem to enjoy it.
INSTRUCTIONS: use 1/16 of a teaspoon of Blueberry Snail Food per 10 gallons. Mix with tank water in a small container until fully dissolved. Pour mixture into tank. I recommend feeding this once or twice per week in established tanks, and up to 3 times per week in new setups.
* This food will Temporarily cloud your tank as it settles onto surfaces for your blueberries to eat. How quickly that dissipates will depend on the flow rate and filtration in your tank.
** DISCLAIMER: As with all aquatic foods and/or supplements, improper use may negatively impact your tank’s homeostasis. This product is not meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any ailments. This product does not guarantee the survival of your snails and is intended to be used by experienced aquarists. Not for human consumption.
We ship on Tuesdays using USPS. Orders placed by 8:00 pm MST Monday (MST = Mountain Standard Time) will be shipped that Tuesday. Orders placed after that will be shipped the following week.
DOA Policy
Sorry, but there is no DOA coverage on this item as the product was not alive when we shipped it. If the item arrives alive, you may want to check the dosage on your medications, take a closer look at those mushrooms you bought at the store, and/or pray to your chosen deity because the end might be nigh. Also, if the product arrives alive, it is not eligible for a refund/replacement because the next one will likely arrive in the same condition and we can not be held responsible for animation of inanimate objects. And we certainly DO NOT want it back! We have more than enough lifeforms between the two of us and can’t take on anything new at this time. Just give it a name and make sure it’s potty trained because it is now your new pet. If you have read this all the way to the bottom, we like you! You’re our kind of weird.
