This listing is for a golf ball sized portion of Christmas Moss aka Vesicularia Montagnei.

This listing is for 1 golf ball sized portion of Christmas Moss. It is a cutting from our personal plants growing in our community tanks. Not gonna lie, they may contain some hitchhikers like ramshorn snails, mini flat ramshorn snails, bladder snails, limpets, scuds, and maybe even some shrimplets. We do our best to remove any hitchhikers we see, but we may not get them all. If you want to avoid adding any of those things to your tank, we recommend researching the different methods of plant dipping. On to the plant info!

Vesicularia Montagnei, aka Christmas Moss, is a great Beginner Aquarium Plant. It’s hardy and super easy to grow. Most aquarists choose to glue it onto rocks, sticks, decor, or whatever strikes their fancy. It's known for its slow to moderate growth and preference for moderate lighting.. It thrives in a range of water temperatures, hardness levels, and lighting conditions, making it a popular choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Its unique branching structure resembles a fir tree, giving it the name "Christmas moss”. Like most live aquarium plants, it can help to improve water quality by absorbing excess nutrients. That said, you do still need to do partial water changes regularly to maintain water quality and prevent nutrient buildup. It is beloved by shrimp and fish fry as its dense, bushy structure makes an excellent hiding place. The addition of a good sized bunch of Christmas Moss may even encourage your fish to engage in spawnanigans aka spawning behavior.

While Christmas Moss tolerates high light, overdoing it can cause it to develop brown patches and encourage algae growth. If algae becomes a problem in your tank, trim back any algae covered areas and consider lowering your light’s intensity and duration. Christmas Moss also tolerates slightly lower light, it just results in slower growth and a duller shade of green.

Please note:
Although Christmas Moss has a reputation of being easy to grow, keep in mind that the fronds may melt back some and/or have some yellowing/browning patches initially, don’t worry this is common and happens often with many aquatic plants after being introduced into a new tank. After the initial shock, new fronds will grow and the plant will start to grow bushier before you know it.
