About Your New Shrimp: Neocaridina, also known as “Neo Shrimp”, are omnivorous scavengers who primarily eat algae, biofilm, decaying plant matter, and any excess fish food that drops to the floor of your tank. Neos benefit from occasional dietary supplementation from good quality commercial shrimp-specific food. They also need calcium to help them molt. We use Gorgeous Gastropods’ Magic Minerals in all of our tanks to promote healthy sheds and strong immune systems.
.
Basic Care Info: Neocaridinas are a freshwater shrimp that need an alkaline environment. A stable pH anywhere between 7.2 and 8.2 is ideal. We keep our neos in heavily planted, community tanks with a temperature of 74 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit and a pH of 7.8. They do best in a planted tank with plenty of places to hide. They periodically molt, or shed their shells, and will need a good quality source of calcium. We supplement our shrimp with our Magic Minerals twice a month. This proprietary blend of bio-available calcium, vitamins, minerals, and more keeps our shrimp healthy and prevents bad sheds, which can be fatal. Magic Minerals is available for purchase in our Etsy shop.
.
Acclimation Info: Float the unopened bag of shrimp in your tank for 20 minutes, or until the temperature inside the bag is the same as the temperature in your tank. Net the shrimp out of the bag and release them into your tank. **Do not pour the bag water into your tank as it contains a purifying agent to keep the shrimp healthy during shipping.
.
Attention: Housing neocaridina in a tank with more acidic water will cause them to die. Colder temperatures in your tank will result in them not breeding.

We don’t do returns or exchanges. However, we do have a DOA guarantee. With your order of shrimp, we typically include a few extras on the off chance some perish in transit. For DOA claims, a picture of the dead shrimp, placed on a white paper towel or sheet of white paper, must be sent within 2 hours of delivery (meaning when the package was dropped off at the provided address). You might be surprised how many scammers we’ve encountered just trying to get free shrimp. Refunds cover the price of the shrimp and tax.

* SITUATIONS THAT VOID THE DOA GUARANTEE *
.
1.) Choosing Ground Shipping at checkout. Ground Shipping takes longer to arrive, thus putting more stress on the snails. If you choose a shipping method through the USPS, the DOA is voided.
.
2.) Package is unsuccessfully delivered on the first attempt (I ship to the address listed with Etsy, it’s your responsibility to ensure the address is correct). If the shipping company is unable to deliver on the first attempt, the DOA is voided.
.
3.) Not opening your package immediately upon delivery. Once shipped, a tracking number is provided, it’s your responsibility to open it as soon as the package is delivered. If the package is not opened within 2 hours of delivery, the DOA is voided.
.
4.) Package is lost due to package thief. (If this happens, please contact your local USPS, UPS, or FedEx to file a claim)
.
5.) Not providing the above, required proof of death within the 2 hour time window. If you do not send us proof that the snails you received from us arrived dead, the DOA is voided.
